Question 1

What is Jamesinvoicing?

Accepted Answer

Jamesinvoicing is a self-custodial Bitcoin invoicing platform. We generate cryptocurrency payment URLs you send to your clients so they can pay you in BTC. We are not a web hosting, VPS, or domain registration provider — we only handle the payment side.

Question 2

How long does it take to issue my first payment link?

Accepted Answer

About two minutes. Create an account, add your Bitcoin address or xPub, fill in an amount in USD, and click Create. You get a shareable URL and QR code ready to send to your client.

Question 3

Do my customers need a Jamesinvoicing account to pay?

Accepted Answer

No. The payment link opens a public checkout page — your client just scans the QR or pastes the address into their wallet and pays. Only you (the merchant) need an account.

Question 4

How do I share a payment link with a client?

Accepted Answer

Copy the URL from the invoice page or use the built-in 'Send by email' button. Links also work in WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, or embedded in a PDF — anywhere a URL works.

Question 5

Does each payment link have its own QR code?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every link auto-renders a QR code your client can scan from any Bitcoin wallet on the planet.

Question 6

Can I customise the payment page with my business branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add your business name, logo, and brand colour from Settings → Branding. The hosted payment page and PDF receipt will both reflect it.

Question 7

Is Jamesinvoicing a custodial Bitcoin processor?

Accepted Answer

No. We are fully non-custodial. Customer payments settle directly to the wallet address or xPub you control. We never hold customer funds and cannot freeze or reverse on-chain transactions.

Question 8

How is the BTC amount on an invoice calculated?

Accepted Answer

When the customer opens the link we fetch the current BTC/USD market rate from our price feed and lock the BTC amount for the invoice expiry window you chose.

Question 9

What happens if the customer pays late and the BTC price has moved?

Accepted Answer

Invoices expire on the date you set. If the customer pays after expiry the payment is logged as late and you can regenerate the invoice at the new market rate from the same flow.

Question 10

Can I accept partial payments?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Partial payments are detected, displayed on the invoice, and reconciled automatically once the remaining balance arrives.

Question 11

What is an xPub and why should I use one?

Accepted Answer

An extended public key lets Jamesinvoicing derive a fresh receiving address for every invoice — without ever seeing your private keys. Each charge gets its own address, which is great for accounting and on-chain privacy.

Question 12

Which wallets are supported for xPub export?

Accepted Answer

Electrum (most recommended), Sparrow Wallet, BlueWallet, Blockchain.com, and Ledger. Pick your provider when adding the xPub so we can validate the prefix matches.

Question 13

Can I use a single address instead of an xPub?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can paste a single BTC receiving address — every invoice will settle to that address. xPub is recommended for higher invoice volumes.

Question 14

Can I bill clients on a recurring schedule?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Create a subscription, set the cadence, and we generate the invoice automatically each cycle and email the payment link to your client.

Question 15

What happens when a subscription invoice goes unpaid?

Accepted Answer

Reminder emails fire at 3-day and 1-day intervals before expiry. After expiry the next cycle can be regenerated at the current market rate.

Question 16

Which blockchains do you support?

Accepted Answer

Bitcoin mainnet today. Lightning Network and additional chains are on the public roadmap.

Question 17

Are confirmations required before an invoice is marked paid?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After detection, an invoice shows Confirming payment and becomes Paid only after the selected coin reaches its required network confirmation count.

Question 18

Do you charge a fee per transaction?

Accepted Answer

There are no per-transaction fees on Bitcoin invoices on most plans. See the pricing page for plan limits.

Question 19

How is my Jamesinvoicing subscription billed?

Accepted Answer

Subscriptions are quoted in USD and paid in Bitcoin from the same invoicing flow you use with your own clients.

Question 20

Can I download my own invoices for accounting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every invoice and every paid charge can be exported as PDF or CSV from the dashboard.

Question 21

How do I enable two-factor authentication?

Accepted Answer

Visit Settings → Security and pair an authenticator app (TOTP). 2FA is required for sensitive actions like withdrawals and team invitations.

Question 22

Can I have multiple team members on one account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Invite teammates from Settings → Team and assign roles such as Admin, Billing, or Read-only. Every action is attributed in the activity log.

Question 23

How do I close my account?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings → Account → Close account. We retain billing records as required by law and delete personal data per the retention schedule in our Privacy Policy.

Question 24

Where are passwords stored?

Accepted Answer

Passwords are hashed using a memory-hard algorithm and never stored in plaintext. We never see your password.

Question 25

Do you ever hold customer funds?

Accepted Answer

Never. Bitcoin paid against an invoice goes directly from your customer's wallet to the address you control. There is no Jamesinvoicing-controlled custody layer.

Question 26

Can I refund a customer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open the paid invoice, click Refund, and send BTC from your wallet to the customer's BTC address — Jamesinvoicing records the refund against the original invoice.

Question 27

Are Jamesinvoicing subscription fees refundable?

Accepted Answer

Subscription plans are refundable within the first 7 days. Because Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, refunds are issued at the BTC market rate on the refund date.

Question 28

Do you provide an API?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A REST API plus webhooks covers invoice creation, payment status, and subscription management. SDK examples are in our developer documentation.

Question 29

Can I receive a webhook when a payment confirms?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Configure your webhook URL in Settings → API and you'll receive signed events on every invoice status change.

Question 30

What are your support hours?

Accepted Answer

Ticket support is 24/7 with a typical reply under 4 hours. Live chat is available to paid plans during extended business hours.

Question 31

Is my data encrypted at rest?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All persistent volumes and database backups are encrypted at rest.

Question 32

Are you GDPR-compliant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We process EU/UK personal data on documented legal bases and offer a Data Processing Agreement for business customers.
